How to join PSIA and/or AASI

You may join PSIA-NW and/or PSIA and/or AASI at three different levels.

Divisional Registered Member

  • You will pay NW dues only ($40)
  • You will be a member of the Northwest Division only.
  • You will receive a Divisional membership card.
  • You will receive the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter and other NW mailings.
  • You may attend NW education and certification events.

Registered Member (non-certified)

  • You will pay NW and National dues ($80).
  • You will be a member of the NW Division and National organization.
  • You will receive a membership card indicating NW and National membership.
  • You may wear the PSIA Shield or AASI logo.
  • You will receive the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter and other NW mailings.
  • You will receive The Professional Skier magazine and The Professional Rider magazine.
  • You will receive and be able to make purchases from the National Accessories Catalog.
  • You may attend PSIA education and certification events.

Level I Member (certified)

If you have not previously joined, you may join PSIA as a Level I certified member within 30 days of completing the Level I exam.

  • You will pay NW and National dues ($80).
  • You will be a member of the NW Division and National organization.
  • You will receive a membership card indicating NW and National membership.
  • You may wear the PSIA Shield or AASI logo.
  • You will receive the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter and other NW mailings.
  • You will receive The Professional Skier magazine and The Professional Rider magazine.
  • You will receive and be able to make purchases from the National Accessories Catalog.
  • You may attend PSIA education and certification events.

 

Step 1: Be employed by a Member School.

Step 2: Fill out a PSIA-NW/PSIA membership form.

Step 3: Pay either $40 for NW dues only or $80 for NW and National dues (see above).

Step 4: Complete the Registered Written Exam (either Alpine or Snowboard) and have it signed by your Training Director. (See below for the exams)

Step 5: Mail the membership form, your check, and your completed Registered Written Exam to:

How to maintain your PSIA-NW/PSIA membership

Step 1: Pay annual dues (each season begins on July 1 and ends on June 30). Dues billings are sent out mid-May.

Step 2: Attend a PSIA-NW education or certification event once a year. A calendar of events can be found in the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter.

 

How to become a certified member of PSIA-NW

Level I

A. Complete the Level I curriculum at your ski school.

B. Complete a minimum of 10 teaching hours prior to taking the Level I exam.

C. Apply to your ski school Training Director to take the Level I exam. Pay a $15.00 exam fee to your Training Director (checks payable to PSIA - NW).

D. If you are not a PSIA member, join within 30 days of completing the Level I exam.

E. When you have successfully completed the Level I exam and joined PSIA-NW, you will receive a Level I certificate and pin.

Level II

A. Apply directly to PSIA-NW. Applications and exam dates can be found in the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter.

Level III

A. One full season must pass between taking a Level II and Level III exam.

B. Apply directly to PSIA-NW. Applications and exam dates can be found in the PSIA-NW Snowsport Instructor newsletter.
